MERCHANDISING CASE STUDY

Hort Innovation ‘Australian Bananas’

How do you find out what consumers know about different types of bananas?

Background

Hort Innovation is a grower owned and funded, not for profit, research and development corporation for Australia’s $9 billion horticultural industry. Hort Innovation identified a need to conduct research in-store on shoppers’ knowledge of the different banana varieties, notably Lady Finger Bananas.

How we helped – merchandising for business growth

As an experienced merchandising business we knew the answer was simple – we had to head to the stores. We provided a field force to conduct surveys in-store at the point of purchase. Consulting with the client and using our industry insights, we devised a questionnaire to capture the relevant information they needed for their business objectives. To maximise their time in-store, staff also reported on stock presentation (including taking photos) and supply chain management. We collated the data and delivered a report to be presented to stakeholders.
